    Eleven shades of food integrity: a halal supply chain perspective

    Background: Food integrity is not only related to the good quality of the food product, nonetheless, it distresses closely more on the health, safety, religious and cultural matters. Weaknesses in handling, monitoring, processing and other factors along the food’s supply chain outbreaks the recent food integrity scandal. These outbreak food integrity scandals could be prevented if clear aspects that affect the food integrity were embraced along the food supply chain. This article is aiming to highlight the factors affecting food integrity in the context of the halal food supply chain and their potential for future research. Scope and approach: This review attempts to provide a wider view of supply chain management in the halal food industry. Attention is drawn to the literature on other food industries and the results there are put in the context of the halal food setting. In this review, it emphasizes the factors could be monitor or control that contributes to the problem of food integrity. Key findings and conclusions: Eleven ‘shades’ of food integrity in the halal supply chain are offered, which can be categorized into four supply chain dimensions, related to raw materials, production, service, and the consumer. Each shade is defined and aligned with the results in the literature, and areas for future research are suggested. Theoretical and managerial implications are provided. The ‘shades’ highlighted can be used and considered by managers as fundamental insights to ponder in safeguarding the integrity of halal products

    Empowering Green Healthcare Supply Chain Management Practices Challenges and Future Research

    The purpose of this paper is to explore the internal challenging factors of green healthcare supply chain management practices that contributed to the sustainable development in Malaysia. Green healthcare supply chain management practices are unique, different and more complex because of the impact on the environment and also the human health. This study thoroughly analysed, reviewed and explained each factor in detail from the various previous literature perspectives. This paper is one of the first to identify and conceptually discuss the use of green healthcare supply chain management practices that contributes to the sustainable development of healthcare industries in a single setting in a developing country. This study explored the internal challenging factors of green healthcare supply chain management practices that contributed to the sustainable development of a private hospital in Malaysia. The findings of the research will enlighten our view on green healthcare supply chain management practices. Besides, it contributes to researchers, the existing corpus of knowledge and a promise to expand the research stream on green healthcare supply chain management practices. The empirical findings will suggest to green healthcare supply chain to practitioner possible ways to obtain and maintain competitive advantages in the healthcare industries as proactive strategies that contribute to the sustainable development in Malaysia

    Augmenting halal food integrity through supply chain integration

    The purpose of this paper is to highlight the importance of the supply chain integration in augmenting food integrity from the perspective of the focal companies. A series of case studies in four halal food supply chain (fast food, kopitiam, casual dining, and fresh processed food) in Malaysia were conducted in understanding the companies’ best practices in safeguarding halal food integrity. The findings from the case studies were then suited and discussed in the paradigm of arc of integration theory. The results provide strong empirical evidence on how a stronger supply chain integration could enhance halal food integrity. Theoretically, this paper advances supply chain integration paradigm discussion into food industry. It offers a novel understanding of supply chain integration relevancy in food industry and in particular the supply chain integration strategy in safeguarding halal food integrity. In addition, the paper offers propositions on how halal integrity could be better achieved through a range of integration strategies. In practice, the paper offers a way forward to the managers in selecting the most relevant type of supply chain integration practices

    Public transport selection among young adults : the case of mass rapid transit and university students

    This paper investigates specifically what drives young adults to choose Mass Rapid Transit (MRT). From the perspective of young adults, this paper reveals the real demand and the attraction of MRT. To deliver their thoughts and opinions effectively, in-depth interviews were performed with 15 respondents among UKM students. The findings identified the element of low price, convenience, reduced traffic congestion, environmental protection, time-saving, good condition, safety, high efficiency, good enjoyment and more business opportunities as the factors for young adults to use public transport. In addition, the research found that inconvenience in a certain part of the service, insufficient information, small coverage and outdated management as the impeding factor for public transport usage

    The Effect of Service Quality on Purchase Intention with Mediating Role of Store Image

    This study emphasizes to measure the effect of service quality on purchase intention with mediating role of store image. The study majorly focused on paint brands available at stores of Manama, Bahrain. Reliability of data, descriptive analysis and Pearson correlation matrix was calculated by using SPSS. The relationship among study variables is tested trough structural equation modeling (SEM) by using AMOS 24. Results highlighted that there is significant and positive relation between service quality and purchase intention of private label paint brands. Moreover, it was found that store image mediates the relationship between service quality and purchase intention of private label paint brands

    Elucidation of supply chain integration in halal food industry

    Much has been written about the importance of supply chain integration in determining firm performance. Moreover, for halal food production that is depending upon the wholesomeness in the supply chain, the external integration is crucial. However, there are scarce literature and managerial guide that focus on supply chain integration in the halal food industry.     SERVICE QUALITY AND CUSTOMER LOYALTY IN PEACEKEEPING MISSIONS

    The capability of service providers to plan and implement the quality components in executing daily job may have a significant impact on customer loyalty. However, the role of service quality as an important determinant has been given less attention in the workplace quality research literature. Therefore, this study was undertaken to measure the relationship between service quality and customer loyalty. A survey method was employed to collect data from Malaysian soldiers who involved in peacekeeping missions at Middle Eastern country. The outcomes of SmartPLS path model analysis demonstrate that the ability of organization to appropriately implement tangible, reliability, responsiveness, assurance and empathy in executing daily job has been important determinants of customer loyalty.     Industry 4.0 Readiness of Technology Companies: A Pilot Study from Malaysia

    Industry 4.0 has the potential to cause both evolutionary (operational) and revolutionary (strategic) changes, but assessing the readiness of companies towards Industry 4.0 has largely been a challenge. Industry 4.0 readiness is also important as it is the first step for companies that want to adopt Industry 4.0 technologies. This paper pilot surveys 100 technology companies in Malaysia to understand their overall readiness towards Industry 4.0. In particular, this research paper contributes to the assessment of Industry 4.0 readiness in terms of seven key areas: (i) Market pressure, (ii) risk-taking, (iii) knowledge, (iv) management support, (v) competencies, (vi) motivation and (vii) freedom.
